- Use of Data
The Gmail API integration primarily involves data transfer for the purpose of sending emails reliably through a verified Google account, rather than the WordPress site accessing the user’s entire email history or Google profile.
Outgoing Email Content and Metadata: When the WordPress site sends an email (e.g., a new user registration notification, password reset, or contact form submission), the email’s content, subject line, recipients, and headers are sent from the WordPress site to the Gmail API for processing and delivery.
Data NOT Typically Accessed
Unless explicitly configured with much broader scopes (which is rare for a standard WordPress email plugin), the WordPress site generally does not access:
- Existing email messages, threads, or attachments in your inbox.
- Your complete browsing history, photos, or other Google-hosted content.
- Your Gmail contacts (though some specific plugins might request this for different functionality).
In summary, the data access is highly specific and restricted to authenticating the connection and handling outgoing email traffic to ensure reliable delivery.
- Amount of Data Usage
This is the actual volume of data (in megabytes or gigabytes) transferred over the internet.
Google measures usage in abstract “quota units,” which dictate how often your application can call the API. Different API methods consume different numbers of units.
- API Calls/Requests: The main metric is the number of requests made by the WordPress site to the Gmail API.
- Quota Consumption: Each request to a specific endpoint (e.g., sending a message, retrieving a list of labels, fetching an email body) costs a certain number of quota units. For example, labels.list might cost 1 unit, while more resource-intensive actions cost more.
- Limits: There are limits on the total number of quota units per day (e.g., 1,000,000,000 per project) and per user per second (e.g., 250 units per second per user).
- Monitoring: You can track your project’s quota usage in the Google Cloud Console under the “Quotas” or “Usage” sections for the Gmail API.

Our Services may involve third-party platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, payroll providers). We are not responsible for:
